Sports gear presents a strategic asset that we deploy to enhance self esteem among underserved children. Our model positions sport as the basic ingredient for developing social & lifetime skills needed to breakdown barriers and overcome poverty. Ensuring that children have access to appropriate sports gear is a critical step towards fostering a lasting passion for the game.
Sports is the global currency that our program employs to invest in long term social & lifetime skills development among children. Our commitment is to deliver on our 'No Child Plays Without Gear Promise" in an environment characterized by limited or no basic resources. We appeal to coaches, sports teams, and families in the USA to kindly consider donating sports equipment for children in our program to enjoy the game and play with confidence. To this date, we have supplied sports gear that impacted more than 5000 children at rural schools in Zimbabwe. Thanks to the Indiana Pacers, Indiana Soccer, Connecticut Attack Basketball, & families in Indiana for donating basketball & soccer equipment that are impacting children.
Advancing behavior modification for underserved children requires a series of catalysts that work together to support the cause. An organized sports program complemented by basic sports equipment & teaching materials are paramount to providing a strategic platform to educate children about overcoming social challenges in life. The psychological impact of suiting up for a game in appropriate gear not only helps children enjoy the game but more importantly enhances their self esteem that can translate into in class performance. Our program is also helping increase gains on gender disparities that typically hinder community progression.
Closing the gender disparity gap & increasing gains for young girls is a top priority for the program. We are passionate about giving girls the unique opportunity to participate, lead and dominate within a predominantly boys social area. Since deploying our No Child Plays Without drive, in Zimbabwe, we have witnessed a 30% increase of girls taking part in sport. With the mandated 50% girls' inclusion in our youth sport program, the community is seeing a significant drop in teenage pregnancies & increase in self initiation & leadership roles played by girls.
There are several advantages associated with partnering with schools. These include, high program yield, sports gear accountability, safe environment for children, emphasis on education, & availability of teaching staff. Therefore all collected sports gear is donated directly to rural schools in Makoni District. This strategy is in keeping with a key component of our values: Keeping children in school & draw the parallel between the positive values of sport and education.
A central component of our program is for children to be involved in structured program that allows them to learn habit success patterns of life. The strategy is to have schools within close proximity of each other to compete with one another for travel trophies. All donated gear has successfully been channelled towards supporting the district wide sports programs. Structured programs allow children to learn sound fundamentals of the game and compete with one another.
While every effort is made to develop sound fundamentals of sport, the same must be dedicated towards developing the rules of the game. Providing Training volunteer officials with necessary resources is in keeping with game development &
Sport isn't fun when you play barefoot. A unique way to encourage program participants to learn & enjoy sport is to equip them with basic sports gear. Research shows that children draw self esteem from a wide range of factors including actively participating in a sports program with appropriate gear. Participants that are actively involved in our sports program get to keep the sneakers they receive.
The thrust behind our program is the concept of impacting lives through volunteer efforts. We work with the local teaching community that we train to become volunteer coaches & officials on the program. Developing a culture of volunteering among underprivileged communities is an important step towards promoting a synergistic approach to goal attainment.
The inception of our sports based approach & availability of sports gear is enabling teachers to transition from the traditional spanking punishment approach to positive reenforcement. Teachers now have an additional motivational tool to get children engaged academically.
