Together we can make the world a better place.

Lifetime empowerment for under privileged children requires sustainable non-band aid methodologies that are action oriented and community based. Under served communities must take ownership of their challenges & put some skin in the game towards poverty alleviation & prosperity.

Help Children Stay In School

The Schools Engagement Strategy

The objective behind donating sports equipment to schools is to ensure resource accountability, increase program participant reach, and meet the 50% girls inclusion initiative. By working directly with school headmasters, we are better positioned to measure program impact as well as tweek it to suit the target audience. Program assessment/review is an important aspect of our strategy formulation and adjustment process. More importantly, we have an obligation to relay our progress report to our donor community whose assistance enable us to impact other people's lives.

Academic Proficiency & Sports Drive

Studies have shown that a direct co-relationship between kids that participate in sport and high grades in class performance. By rolling out our program within the rural school system, we increase our chances of success in tying sport participation with good grades.

School Teachers Partnership

An effective youth developmental program must foster strong ties with rural school teachers that become trained as coaches, officials, and child mentors. Teachers help deliver a safe environment conducive to academic progression for children.

School teachers present an existing human resource that we must tap into in order to ensure program sustainability & continuity. The teaching community also command a natural level of respect & authority that compliments our mentoring program. To date we have trained more than 1000 volunteer coaches who are actively working with children in various sporting disciplines.

HIV/AIDs Awareness Drive

Positive Re-inforcement

Overcoming challenges assoiciated with the wrath of HIV/AIDS must begin with making fundamental changes to our strategy in how we build awareness among children. A key step in creating awareness is the development of a social platform that captivates children's mind, energy & perspective of life. Our community based organized youth sports programs present a window of opportunity to dwell on a positive reinforcement & education campaigns. The sports programs allow children to access information in a fun & exciting environment.

Play Based Teaching Methods

This monumental teaching resource simulates the concept of contracting the HIV/AIDS virus through casual socio-interaction. With this method, children are split up into different teams assigned to different colors of facial paint. Each team soaks their hands in the respective paint assigned to them. Children then begin to intermingle with kids from other teams shaking hands mimicking casual interaction. In the process, their hands collect different paint color from other teams. After returning to their original camps, children go through the painstaking process of washing their hands clean, which relates to the tough challenges of curing the AIDS pandemic. They are invited into an HIV/AIDS interactive conversation about the dangers and after effects of reckless casual encounters.

Building Informational Firewall

The uniqueness & effectiveness of this program is in pursuing the "Avoidance versus Curing" approach. Such a grassroots strategy helps create a "An HIV Infection Fire Wall" that enables kids to focus on educational advancement, abstain from sexual activity, and guarantees long term winning strategy. An organized sport program assigns children to a respective team at an early age in their lives that provides psychological recognition. The power of recognition translates into self worth and value. Recognizing these children in their accomplishments, gives them hope and allows them to keep challenging themselves to achieve better and bigger each year. This fosters a safe environment for competition and the value of hard work.

Faith Based Approach

Unlocking Spiritual Values

At Africa Outreach USA, we strive to develop a Christian centered approach of discipleship and love for one another for children. We believe in empowering children with a unique set of spiritual lifetime tools that transform children into well rounded individuals. By applying faith based habit success patterns, children can proactively take steps to avert falling through the cracks and grow up to become successful in life. Plugging a faith based approach early in their lives helps restore the hope needed to overcome day to day challenges. This model gives children the spiritual support needed to develop self confidence that translates into academic performance & life time skills.

The Gender Balance Drives

Level The Playing Field

Many young girls in rural African communities continue to be denied opportunities to go to school. In most cases girls are counted while the boy counter part is valued. Closing the gender gap & increasing gains for young girls realigns community mind set toward leveling the field for girls to have access to the same opportunities that boys do.

Our youth sports program gives girls equal participation & leadership opportunities that helps them develop self confidence necessary to overcome social challenges & be transformed into goal getters.

Unleash Girl's Potential

Redefining the role played by girls in the community is an important step towards paving the way for girls to reach their full potential. Our program advocates for full participation & leadership opportunities for girls that will elevate them to leadership roles. A good starting point is to eliminate the negative stigma associated with sending girls to school.

Behavior Modification

Allowing girls to gain a foothold in a male dominated world of leadership is an important step towards girl empowerment. Our program is helping communities develop a robust pipeline of girls that take the path of leadership despite the challenges. We advocate for girls to lead in the classroom, sports, & community activities.

Sport Development

Sports Gear Assist

Sport Infrastructure Development

Before you attempt to develop sports infrastructure for underserved children, the community has to have some "Skin In The Game". We challenge communities in Zimbabwe to make farm bricks that are used to build basketball courts. This approach was developed by Ted DeWolf an American missionary living in Zimbabwe. Such a structure has a low upfront cost and comes with no maintanace costs.

Coaches Training/Development

While sound game fundamentals are being taught, so must proper officiating skills. The strategy behind this program is to train & certify every volunteer coach as an official to ensure game development & program longevity. Volunteers that become certified will receive officiating tools like the stripped shirt, whistle, & rules guide. Collection efforts for new/used officiating equipment are underway and will be ready for shipment to Zimbabwe in time for the 2014 program.
